Base images
Linux image builds are based on packer.io - which is an open source tool for creating identical machine images for multiple platforms from a single source configuration. Base OS builds follow official OS vendor cloud-image releases whenever possible. As for extra steps package updates get pulled and installed, plus image filesystems go through antivirus/malware security scanning and simple VM boot/network test is made in order to verify basic operation.
Linux images do not contain any login accounts with default passwords - it is expected that ssh keys are deployed through cloud-init metadata instead. SSH login names are OS specific (ie OS names in lowercase) - for example: centos (CentOS 7), debian (Debian 8 & 9).
