Group of High Energy and Computational Physics

Group of High Energy and Computational Physics (HEPC) is a research group at the National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics (NICPB) which represents Republic of Estonia at CERN. HEPC is a coordinator and developer of the Estonian Grid and a partner of the Baltic Grid project.

Our research interest is focused on theoretical and experimental high energy and particle physics and massive distributed data analyses on the Grid. In addition our research interests include Grid development, Monte Carlo modeling in particle physics, computational material science and computational physics in general.

Our group belongs to the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) Collaboration at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. We collaborate with the similar groups at the Helsinki Institute of Physics, Tartu University, Tallinn University of Technology and Lund University.

HEPC is the local coordinator of some international and regional projects: BalticGrid, BalticCloud, Nordic Grid Neighbourhood, Visby Network for Internet-based applications etc.

Our group is responsible for the educational programme of the Estonian students at CERN supported by the Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia.
